100+ Biodiversity Positive Practices and Actions Around the World Submission and Promotion 2021-07-20  
 
  We welcome your contribution to the “100+ Biodiversity Positive Practices and Actions Around the World Submission and Promotion” campaign. That’s how we display all noteworthy biodiversity conservation efforts, practices and models around the world and demonstrate the strong commitment of global non-governmental actors to their missions as biodiversity conservationists. We will be further supported in the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) to be held in Kunming, China, during which the post-2020 global biodiversity framework will be reviewed, the biodiversity targets for the following decade will be made clear, and the vision statement for harmonious co-existence between man and nature by 2050 will be formulated. Please refer to the following guidelines.

  II. Submission Period

  20th  July 2021 to 31st August 2021

  III. Submission Criteria

  1. What to submit

  We welcome good practices with focus on biodiversity conservation, sustainable use, and benefit-sharing of genetic resources which have been launched or supported by NGOs. Implementation agencies in these cases include but not limit to government departments, civil groups, corporate entities, and government-affiliated institutions. Submissions will be categorized as follows:

  

  2. Who can submit

  Applicants shall be independent legal entities that have undertaken and implemented the biodiversity programs that they present, including but not limited to government departments, civil organizations (social groups, foundations, and social service institutions), corporate entities, government-affiliated institutions, civic groups, communities, and schools.

  Each applicant may not submit more than three cases.

  3. Scope of the campaign

  We accept submissions on a global scale, in English or Chinese.

  4. How to Submit

  Please choose one of the following ways  to submit:

  I.Scan the QR code below to fill the blank online. Please download the confirming declaration page (appendix 2), affix with the official seal and sign, then upload it in the form of scanned copy or photo.

  

  Ⅱ. Access to tne link: http://lxi.me/mgywx to fill the blank online. Other steps are the same as in way I.

  Ⅲ. Download the submission form (appendix 1), send the filled submission form with the confirming declaration page (appendix 2, please affix official seal and sign then upload scanned file or photo), and 3 photos that could show the content of the case to biodiversitycase@sina.com. The subject should be like "Case Submission -- Name of Applicant".

  IV. Evaluation Criteria

  1. Experts at home and abroad in fields of biodiversity conservation, sustainable use, and benefit-sharing will be invited either virtually or physically to evaluate the submissions between September 1st to 20th, 2021.

  2. Submissions will be assessed from multiple perspectives, including their ecological value, social impact and benefit, innovation, promotion and sustainability, and textual/visual presentation.

  3. The evaluation will be carried out in three steps: short-listing, preliminary review, and final review. Over 100 “typical examples” of good practices will be selected, among which 10-20 “specially recommended examples” will be singled out.

  V. Announcement and release

  In accordance with experts’ review, the result of “typical examples” and “specially recommended examples” will be published on the co-hosts’ official websites for public notification, and if no objection occurs, it will be released at the COP15 NGO Forum officially.

  VI. Awards

  1. The “typical examples” and “specially recommended examples” winners will be awarded with certificates by the Co-hosts.

  2. The representatives of the “typical examples” and “specially recommended examples” winners in Chinese territory may have chance to be financially supported to attend the NGO Forum in COP15 offline, while representatives from out of Chinese territory may have chance to join the NGO Forum online.

  3. The “typical examples” and “specially recommended examples” will be made into pamphlets and distributes to delegates during the CBD COP 15. It will also be published in both English and Chinese for publicity and promotion in later times.

  VII. Other matters

  1. When submitting all the cases (including but not limited to words, photos, and graphs), the applicant must ensure there are no copyright disputes, and agree to authorize the event organizers to use and publish the submitted and selected cases for free. In case of disputes or public opinion incidents arising from the infringement by the submitted and selected cases and/or photos, the applicant shall bear the responsibilities arising therefrom and indemnify the co-hosts of the event for any loss incurred thereby.

  2. The applicant must ensure the authenticity of the submitted cases. If false case materials are provided, the submission will be removed and the applicant will be disqualified. Such fraud or deceptive behavior will also be reported by hosts in a reasonable manner. In case such disputes occur, the applicant shall bear the responsibilities arising therefrom and indemnify the co-hosts of the event for any losses incurred thereby.

  3. This event shall be construed by its co-hosts CEPF and the Paradise International Foundation.
